IMPROPER SIGNAGES ARE CAUSING CORRUPTION / KICKBACKS BY MMDA ENFORCERS
Incident April 18, 2010 around 4pm
Route: Ortigas turning left to Edsa going to Makati
Arrogant Officers Involved: La Victoria / Francis Tulod
Facts / Background: We were coming from Ortigas, turning left on Edsa going to Makati. We waiting for the green turning left traffic signal coming from red stoplight. From where we are coming from there are two lanes, the second "outer lane" was full of buses so we turned left on the first lane and found NO signage (we later on found out that there were signage on the wired wall which are covered by buses BUT NOT LEGIBLE and there were signages from the other side of Edsa intersection but NOT from where we were coming from - ORTIGAS, parallel ROB GALLERIA). That lane, about 50 meters from where we entered are U-Turn slots for Private vehicles so we confirmed it was the correct lane until these MMDA enforcers stopped us, along with other vehicles telling us we have entered the wrong lane and was getting the license of my husband. When we were explaining the whole situation, they were not listening so we had to challenge where the signage is and was asking explanation what is the point of not letting the first lane be for private vehicles when there are u-turn slots in that lane and private vehicles were just merging to the second lane to get pass through the bridge to get to Makati. We were informed that the third lane should be for the private vehicle instead.
Here are my complaints:
1. Where are the clear signage? There were no guides (there is a small signage but IT IS COVERED BY BUSES!!) and the enforcers are just showing up to get license then threatening to get plate number (????) - Very high RISK for bribery. We did not offer any money but wanting to get this whole situation straightened up
2. Why is the first two lanes for buses when the first lane there were TWO (2) u turn slots primarily for PRIVATE vehicles? Why can't the buses just be on the THIRD LANE? I cannot find my driving handbook but when you're turning left, you should turn left on the leftest inner lane to allow vehicles from the opposite site to turn right to the lane closest to them.
3. Your MMDA enforcers can't put logic to these rules and was just wanting to get license.
4. Are your MMDA enforcers even allowed to threaten to get plate #s if license is not provided? If there is indeed a violation, shouldn't the traffic violation receipt be issued and just use the license to verify info?
5. La Victoria's ID, being a public enforcer, is covered by a paper inside the plastic jacket. Yes La Victoria is written on the shirt but the ID should be visible to the public. By the way, he was very arrogant but CANNOT even explain the whole logic of the traffic violation.
C'mon guys, can you please try to provide the most logical traffic rules and post signages that are clear to everyone in whatever direction they are coming from? These are the reasons why MOST MMDA enforcers can get bribery out of confused and uninformed drivers.
Contact me the soonest by replying to this post. Thank you.

As far as i know, licenses should no longer be confiscated. you will just be issued a ticket which you can pay via bank deposit. So whoever ill mannered, unprofessional, egoistic prick is scaring you that he will confiscate your plate number should be held in contempt!

Enforcers should be enforcing the laws in the smooth flow of traffic that is jamming the right of way and proper visibility of the road.
The areas of rotonda, guadalupe, crosiing, ortigas and cubao are PUB domain in road recklessness, Drivers are openly violating traffic regulations deterrent to public safety and inconveniences.
Selle lynn case are only a few of the many the private drivers are experiencing... is the MMDA traffic officers already been corrupted by the problem of political appointments. Therese aquino is right that enforcers should be of their highest character in the duties.
Hoping soon the MMDA traffic will act on immediately in resolving the problems in the areas concerned and for its officers to behave in proper manner fitted to a respectable officer.

2005 or 2006 ako nahuli dyan.
